Detained migrants often don't have the resources or connections needed to access private lawyers, making Pro Bono representation their only access to legal aid. A staggeringly low 14% of detained migrants are represented by attorneys in court, according to the National Immigrant Justice Center. Put simply, there is a massive shortfall of lawyers for migrants that Pro Bono representation can help fill.
