Hriday UnadkatHriday Unadkat is an immigrant who believes that the US should reform its immigration system to prioritize the health and lives of individuals seeking a better life. He believes that our generation has the ability to change how governments approach policy. He is a high schooler in Virginia; when not pondering about immigration policy, he dedicates his time to running an international advocacy organization called the Policy Initiatives Institute, leading the debate team, introducing civics education in classrooms, and teaching Tae Kwon Do to others! Vaibhav RanganVaibhav Rangan, a child of immigrants, is a debater and economic policy researcher from Saratoga, CA, a suburb of San Jose. Vaibhav strongly believes in every individual’s natural right to seek a better life and that immigration in every way should be decriminalized. Outside of JTB, Vaibhav actively competes in Public Forum Debate and DECA, a business club and volunteers at Peer Court, a local organization that provides restorative justice to troubled youth. Metztli CarbajalMetztli Carbajal is an awarded student activist and community leader from San Ysidro, California. She believes firmly that every immigrant deserves an affordable and friendly path to citizenship. Carbajal campaigns for ethnic studies in our classrooms, interns at an immigration law firm, serves as a juror at her local Teen Court, holds various positions across a plethora of organizations, and has been recognized by CA State Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez-Fletcher. Emilie Enser As the child of two immigrant parents, Emilie Enser is passionate about reforming our current immigration system to ensure that all of those coming to the U.S. for a better opportunity are able to carry that out without falling under unfair legalities. While social advocacy is new to her, being 15 years old, it’s become a priority and passion of hers, speaking out on a number of movements. As a rising journalist living in California’s bay area, spreading awareness on important topics such as our country’s immigration crisis and being able to make change ahead of her future in law is every day’s goal. Emilie likes to stay active having been a competitive gymnast for 7 years and continues to explore her love and interest in nutrition. Anchal Somsaale Anchal Somsaale is a first-generation American community leader and advocate for immigration reform. Anchal's beliefs have been greatly shaped by her parents' own difficult path toward citizenship, which is why she believes that all immigrants, undocumented or not, deserve a straightforward path to becoming American citizens without fearing consequence. To further create change in her community, Anchal has organized a successful fundraiser to support the Black Lives Matter Movement, she has attended numerous leadership conferences, and she works with lawyers to learn about how else she can impact her community. Sara Medwin Sara Medwin is a motivated student activist from Maryland. She believes in the importance of reform in the immigration system to protect the human rights of all individuals seeking safety and asylum in the United States. She is passionate about other social movements such as the Black Lives Matter movement, and the movement for Climate Justice; she is part of the leadership team of the Five Dollar Project, a student led initiative towards collective climate action. In her spare time, she is privileged to tutor students who come from underprivileged communities and volunteer as a juror at her local teen court. She is also a member of her school’s debate and mock trial teams, and hopes to pursue a career in law. Louisse Bella
Louisse Bella, an immigrant-turned citizen, believes that the US government should shorten the process for naturalization from her family's own experience. She believes that immigrants deserve equal opportunity and the ability to attain residence in the US safely. She is a core leader in her school's LGBTQIA+ club, a co-leader of their school's mock trial club, and an active participant in her school's magazine.
